The Fannin County Rebels middle school baseball team has had an impressive season, going 13-3 overall. That record was good enough to punch their ticket to the region championship and give them home-field advantage as they hosted the White County Warriors Tuesday, March 30, for the region title.
The game started fast as Lawson Sullivan got the Rebels rolling with a big double. Fannin went on to tally two runs in the first inning with help from hits by Gavin Davis and Colton Gray. Mason McDaniel later collected a two-run RBI to left field to net a four-run first inning for Fannin.
White County retaliated by scoring two runs in the second inning to trim the Rebels lead 4-2. After a few scoreless innings, the Rebels answered back by scoring one run in the fifth inning with help from a White County balk.
Fannin sealed the deal in the sixth inning, scoring two runs off of a CJ Reece double and a Carson Callihan single. Cohutta Brown and the Rebels defense was solid all game as they held White County to three runs total. Brown ran down two deep fly balls that saved the Rebels from giving up two runs.
With the win, the Rebels finished with the region title and a 14-3 record.
