FCMS cross country team finishes first

The Fannin County Middle School (FCMS) Rebel and Lady Rebel cross country team held their first meet of the season Friday, August 20, at Roper Park in Jasper, Georgia.

For the Lady Rebels, they picked up a fourth place finish. Kensley Pickelsimer was the fastest Lady Rebel, with a time of 13:44, which was enough for third place.

For the Rebels, they finished fourth out of nine teams with a team score of 111. Connor Kyle placed ninth in the contest, with a time of 12:40.

The middle school’s second race was held at Meeks Park in Blairsville.

Seven teams competed in the meet, and the Rebels were able to secure a top three team finish with a score of 68.

The top three Lady Rebel runners for Fannin at Meeks Park were Kensley Pickelsimer, second place; Adrianna Galloway, seventh place; and Avi Ethington, twelfth place.

The top three Rebel runners Connor Kyle, second place; Rylin Davis, fourteenth place; and Cason Mitchell, fifteenth place.

The FCMS next meet was at Murphy, North Carolina, as the Rebels and Lady Rebels both placed first as a team.

The Rebels had a team score of 59, with the Lady Rebels leading the way with 50.

The Lady Rebels had two runners place in the top 10 as Kensley Pickelsimer placed second with a time of 13:51.60 and Galloway placed fifth with a time of 14:47.75.

On the Rebels side, Fannin had two runners place in the top 10 as well, with Kyle placing third with a time of 13:01.83 and Finn Thoresen placing seventh with a time of 13:53.84.
