The Fannin County Lady Rebels improved their record to 6-1 Saturday, December 11, when they hosted the Union County Panthers.
Fannin County jumped out to a comfortable lead and ended up winning the game 67-45.
Courtney Davis catapulted the Lady Rebels to lead in the first quarter as she netted seven points on a three ball, two-point basket and two free throws. Jenna Young and Reagan York combined for six points as Young rattled in a long-range three ball and York got a two-point basket and a free throw to fall. Union County scored six points in the first as Fannin led 13-6.
Fannin continued to churn out points in the second quarter as Ellie Cook netted five points on a two-point basket and three ball. Reigan O’Neal muscled in a two-point basket, while Riley Reeves found the bottom of the net on a three-point basket. Becca Ledford converted two free throws to give the Lady Rebels a 25-14 lead at halftime.
Ledford took over for Fannin in the third quarter as the senior scored nine points on a three ball, two, two-point baskets and two free throws. Davis added six points in the third as well, netting three, two-point baskets. Macy Hawkins muscled in a two-point basket to give Fannin 17 points in the third quarter and a 42-33 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Lady Rebels played their best quarter offensively in the fourth, tallying 25 points.
Davis led Fannin with 11 points on a three ball, three, two-point baskets and two free throws. Cook sank a three-point bucket and a two-point basket, while Ledford got two, two-point baskets to drop. Reigan O’Neal drained a long range three and York converted two free throws to cap the scoring for Fannin as the Lady Rebels were able to fend off the Panther comeback for a 67-45 victory.
