The Fannin County Rebels traveled to Hiwassee Dam Friday, January 3, to take on the Eagles. The Rebels played well on both sides of the ball and were able to come away with a 62-31 win over the Eagles.
Fannin came out of the gate hot, scoring 19 points. Jalen Ingram netted six points on three, two-point buckets, while Landon Norton and Jordan Bennett scored a three ball each. Jerritt Holloway, Miles Johnson and Andre Bivens scored a two-point basket each and Cohutta Hyde converted a free throw. Fannin held the Eagles to nine points in the first to take a 19-9 lead.
The Rebels continued their consistent scoring in the second quarter as Hyde and Bivens scored four points on two, two-point buckets each.
Bennett scored a two-point basket and converted two free throws, while Ingram converted two free throws and Brady Martin and Johnson converted one free throw each.
Fannin held the Eagles to seven points in the second take a 35-16 lead at halftime.
Ingram kept Fannin’s offense going in the third quarter, scoring four points on a two-point bucket and two free throws. Bivens drained a three ball, while Bennett, Hyde and Norton scored a two-point bucket each to cap a 13-point third quarter.
Hiwassee Dam scored ten points in the third as Fannin padded their lead to 48-26. The Rebels closed the game out in the fourth quarter as Tucker Hanson scored five points on a three-point bucket and two-point basket. Holloway got two, two-point baskets to drop and Eli Brisbay-Cochran nailed a deep three ball. Derrick Peacock capped the 14-point fourth quarter with a two-point bucket as the Rebels were able to hold off the Eagles 62-31.
