The Fannin County Rebels and Lady Rebels track and field teams battled against Dawson County and Johnson High School Tuesday, March 23, and had a solid outing finishing overall in second place.
In the Girls 100 Meter Dash, Monica Cosentino placed fourth overall. Cosentino placed third in the Girls 200 Meter Dash, and Alayna Dockery finished seventh in the Girls 1600 Meter Run.
Macy Hawkins placed second in the Girls 200 Meter Hurdles, and Cosentino grabbed second place in the Girls Long Jump. Hawkins placed eighth in the Girls Long Jump, while Dockery finished third in the Girls Shot Put, and second in the Girls Discus Throw.
On the men’s side, Andre Bivens placed second in the Boys 100 Meter Dash. Bivens was followed by Austin Garland, who placed third. Jackson Davis finished seventh, while James Mercer finished eighth and Tyler Stephenson finished in twelfth place.
Garland finished third in the Boys 200 Meter Dash, followed by Davis in fifth and Mercer in tenth.
Nate Smith finished in sixth place and Phoenix Leifer in seventh in the Boys 400 Meter Dash.
In the Boys 800 Meter Run, Benjamin Bloch finished in third place for Fannin, and James Mercer placed fifth.
In the Boys 1600 Meter Run, Zechariah Prater secured a third place finish, while Bloch finished in fifth and Luke Callihan in sixth.
Prater also finished second in the Boys 3200 Meter Run, followed by Luke Callihan in fourth place.
Thomas Mercer placed first in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles, and in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles.
The Rebels also finished first in the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay. The relay team consists of Bivens, Davis, Garland, and Thomas Mercer.
Jackson Mercer, Thomas Mercer, James Mercer and Benjamin Bloch placed fourth in the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay.
The Rebels dominated the Pole Vault as James Mercer finished first, Garland finished second, Stephenson placed third, and Jackson Mercer placed fourth. Bivens placed first in the Long Jump, with Davis placing seventh, Chris Gatangalou finishing ninth and Matthew Crowder placing tenth.
Bivens also placed first in the Boys Triple Jump.
The Rebels had five athletes place in the Boys Shot Put, with Crowder leading the way in first place, followed by Logan Long in second, Slade Epperson in fifth, Gatanagalou in sixth and Joseph Hughes in eighth.
Crowder took home another firth place finish in the Boys Discus Throw, followed by Gatanagalou in fourth, Long in sixth, Epperson in seventh, Nate Smith in eighth and Hughes in eleventh.
Both the Rebels and Lady Rebels finished in second place behind Dawson County.
