The Fannin County Lady Rebels volleyball team played in their Area Tournament Saturday, October 3.
Fannin County played well, finishing third overall. In the Lady Rebels first game they faced Chattooga. The Lady Rebels were able to jump out to a quick lead and never looked back as they swept the Indians 3-0.
The Lady Rebels faced Dade County in the next match and competed well, but ultimately lost to the Wolverines 3-1. Dade County took the first set (25-22) and the second set (25-15), but the Lady Rebels were able to battle back and claim the third set (25-22) to make it 2-1. Dade County was able to recover and top Fannin County (25-16) to win the match 3-1.
The Lady Rebels then battled Chattooga again for the third place spot and was able to win 3-1.
The Lady Rebels were able to win the first set (25-22) and the second set (25-16). The Indians rallied, however, to win the third set (25-19) to make it 2-1. Fannin County buckled down in the fourth set and was able to win the set (25-22) and match 3-1 to finish third place.
Abby Ledford and Paige Foresman were selected to the All-Area team, while the Lady Rebels will start the state playoffs Wednesday, October 21.
