Fannin cross country teams shine at state meet

The Fannin County Rebels and Lady Rebels cross country team competed in the GHSA State Cross Country Championship Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6, at Carrollton High School.

Both the Rebels and Lady Rebels did well at the meet, with the boys finishing in eighth place out of 30 teams and the Lady Rebels finishing in tenth place.

In the 2A Boys 5000 Meter Run, it was Zechariah Prater leading Fannin with a 24 place finish with a time of 18:24.47.

Gavin Davis was next for Fannin, finishing in 30 place with a time of 18:33.05. Next for the Rebels was Benjamin Bloch, who finished in 46 place with a time of 19:05.57.

Luke Callihan was next, finishing in 54 place with a time of 19:25.68, followed by Phoenix Leifer, who placed 66 with a time of 19:42.02.

Sam Jabaley and James Kyle finished in 129 and 130 place with Jabaley posting a time of 21:35.02 and Kyle posting a time of 21:36.67. There were 206 runners in the event.

The Rebels team score was enough to give them an eighth place finish.

For the Lady Rebels it was Carlee Holloway leading the way as she finished in 22 place with a time of 22:00.77.

Lindsey Holloway was next, placing 47 with a time of 23:42.27. Monica Consentino finished in 51 place with a time of 24:08.69, followed by Kinsley Sullivan who placed 80 with a time of 26:10.64.

MaKayla Jones and Shaylee Jones finished in 95 and 96 place as MaKayla had a time of 27:19.14 and Shaylee had a time of 27:19.43.

Taylor Poland finished 126 with a time of 28:47.69. The girls meet had 196 total runners as Fannin’s team points was enough to secure them a 10 place finish.
