Fannin County cross country shines

The Fannin County Rebel and Lady Rebel cross country team met at Meeks Park in Blairsville, Georgia, to compete against Union, Gilmer, Towns, Rabun, and Lumpkin Counties.

There were a total of 61 boys competing and 44 girls competing. For the Lady Rebels, the top finishers are as follows:

• Carlee Holloway, second place, 22:42;

• Monica Cosentino, ninth place, 25:52;

• Olivia Temples, 11th place, 26:13;

• Kristen Cipich, 12th place, 26:18;

• Makayla Jones, 13th place, 26:51;

• Taylor Poland, 33rd place, 31:42;

• Shaylee Jones, 37th place, 32:41;

• Jaclyn Cracknell, 38th, 32:58;

Lindsay Holloway and JR Brysen Holloway did not run but expect to run at the next meet.

The Lady Rebels finished second behind Union County by three points.

On the men’s side, the Rebels placed as follows:

• Zechariah Prater, second place, 19:11;

• Gavin Davis, eighth place, 20:17;

• Phoenix Leifer, 13th place, 20:44;

• Ben Bloch, 16th, 21:06;

• Sam Jabaley, 22nd, 21:54;

• Luke Callihan, 21st, 21:46;

• James Kyle, 23rd, 21:56;

•Samuel McGill 36th, 23:59;

• Brady Smith finished with a 34:35.

Jack Dlugokinski and Bryce Ware did not run but are expected to compete within the next couple of meets.

Cross Country Coach Suzianne Pass said, “I was very pleased with how both teams competed. They are much farther along than what they were this time last year.”

Fannin’s next meet will be at Tallulah Falls on Tuesday, September 7.
