The Fannin County 8U Rebels football claimed the 2019 Mountain Football League Super Bowl 3 Title in White County Saturday, November 9.
The Rebels faced Pickens County in the Super Bowl. For the Rebels, it would be a redemption match after Fannin fell to Pickens County 7-0 in the regular season.
Both Fannin and Pickens defenses came to play, holding each other scoreless in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Rebels pinned the Dragons at their own two yard line and forced a punt. The Rebels took over with great field position.
Fannin would later get into the red zone with a run down to the six yard line by Cooper Mathis, which later set up a touchdown run by Christopher Kraft as the Rebels took a 6-0 lead after the missed extra point with 4:40 left in the 2nd quarter.
Pickens got the ball back and started moving the chains, but a stop on third down by Mathis and Brady Newberry would give the Rebels the ball back with two minutes to go in the first half.
The Rebels were unable to score and went into halftime leading 6-0.
The Rebels and Dragons went back and forth in the third, until Kraft made a house call from 60-yards out.
With 2:49 left in 3rd quarter the Rebels extended their lead 12-0. Great blocking was provided by the Fannin Rebel offensive line the whole game.
On defense, the Rebels were firing on all cylinders as Cash Rittenberry was able to blow through the Pickens offensive line for a safety. Coby Sawyer and Brantley Merrell also provided pressure as the Rebels took the lead 14-0 with 4:50 left in the game.
Pickens was unable to score the remainder of the game as the Rebels completed the shutout, winning 14-0.
