The Fannin County Lady Rebels hosted the Union County Lady Panthers Saturday, December 7. The Lady Rebels were able to gain the momentum early and hold on as they topped Union 52-47.
Becca Ledford got Fannin rolling in the first, as she knocked down a long range three-point bucket and nice two-point floater for five points.
Saidee Collins, Abby Ledford, Mackenzie Johnson and Olivia Sisson scored a two-point bucket each to give the Lady Rebels 13 points in the first quarter. Union County was able to score 13 points as well in the first to tie the game 13-13.
The Lady Rebels erupted for 14 points in the second quarter led by Becca Ledford. She was able to net a three-point bucket and convert two free throws for five points. Johnson got a three-point bucket to fall and converted a free throw, while Abby Ledford scored on a three-point basket from deep.
Sisson capped the second quarter scoring for the Lady Rebels, as Fannin outscored Union 14-9 for a 27-22 lead at halftime.
Abby Ledford came out red hot in the third quarter, scoring seven points off of a three-point bucket, two-point basket and two free throws. Collins muscled her way to a two-point bucket in the paint as the Lady Rebels put up nine points in the third. Union County was able to score 13 points in the third as Fannin led 36-35 heading into the final quarter.
Senior Morgan Holt came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points on four, two-point buckets. Collins was a bully in the paint and was able to score seven points three, two-point buckets and a free throw. Johnson was able to convert a free throw to cap a 16-point fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers tallied 12 points in the fourth as Fannin County topped Union 52-47.
