Dunn named to All-State team

Jamari Dunn has rapidly made his mark across Georgia during his freshman season running with the Fannin County High School cross country team.

Dunn has been named to the 2025 All-State Cross Country All-Freshman Boys Team. As of Sunday morning, he was ranked ninth in the MileSplit Georgia Top 15 Fall Sports Athletes Countdown.

The honors recognize Dunn’s many accomplishments this past season, according to Coach Miranda Roof.

Dunn came in fourth place in the region with a time of 17:36. Then, he capped off his season by placing 11th at the state championships with a time of 17:58. Based on his time at the state championships, Dunn ranks as the 18th best freshman in the entire state in all classifications. Only 18 freshmen in the entire state broke 18 minutes at the state championships.

Dunn ran his lifetime personal record this season with a time of 16:55 at the Asics Invitational. By doing so, he became one of the fastest 5K runners in Fannin County school history.Based on his 5K times throughout this cross country season, Dunn met the Mileplit Bronze-Level Standard on two separate occasions.

Dunn received the Athletes’ Choice Award for the cross country team this season.
