The Fannin County Lady Rebels fell behind early and could not recover Tuesday, September 7, when they traveled to Dade County to take on the Wolverines in a region matchup.
Jaylen Green and Josilynn Newton got one hit each in the game. Newton started in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Rebels pitching one and one-third innings. Natalie Herendon threw two and a third innings and collected one strikeout.
The Lady Rebels were held scoreless in the top of the first inning as the Wolverines batted in the top of the second.
Dade County was able to cross home plate twice in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead over Fannin.
The Wolverines increased their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second after holding the Lady Rebels scoreless in the top of the second and scoring four runs in the bottom of the second.
Riley Davis started the Lady Rebels off in the top of the third as she walked, and Zoe Putnam laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Davis to second.
Green singled to left field to push Davis to third where she later scored on a Dade County error to put Fannin County on the board.
Dade County answered quickly, however, scoring six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 12-1 lead.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning and the Lady Rebels could not generate any offense in the top of the fifth as they fell to the Wolverines 12-1.
