XC: Teams improve at meet
The girls cross country team from Fannin County High School (FCHS) continues to bring home honors while their male counterparts continue to improve by setting individual best times.
Both came home from the Pickens’ and Grinnin’ Invitational Friday, October 11, keeping on this pace.
Lindsey Holloway continues to be the breakaway performer for the girls, finishing fourth overall while breaking her own FCHS record with a time of 19:04. Her effort also met the Milesplit Silver Level Standard for the second time this season.
Sams continues to improve, finishing 16th overall and barely more than a minute behind Holloway at 20:22. She met the Milesplit Bronze Level Standard for the third time this season.
The girls team of Holloway, Karli Sams, Sydney Ford, Kensley Pickelsimer, Annaleigh Cheatham and Claire Saxon competed in the Girls Championship Division and finished seventh out of 25 teams.
The boys’ squad of Rylin Davis, Henry Schueneman, Gavin Davis, Aiden Jones, Joe DiBenedetto, Brodey Angel and Kevin Cruz ran in the Varsity Boys Division.
Rylin Davis placed 15th in the race with a time of 18:21. Schueneman, Gavin Davis, Jones and Cruz all ran their best times of the season.
Brady Smith, Jaxson Bittner and Kaden Majors ran in the JV Boys Division.
Bittner and Majors both ran their best times of the season.
Next on the schedule is the Banks County High School meet today, Wednesday, October 16.
