The Copper Basin Cougars continued to dominate the Sale Creek Panthers when the district rival visited Copper Basin Thursday night, February 3.
Less than a week earlier, the Cougars handed the Panthers a loss on their home court.
The sweep was completed with a 57-46 Copper Basin win at home.
Behind eight points from Joe Boggs and six from Chris Henson, the Cougars raced to a 21-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Reece Parris added four points, and Chase Hyatt three in the first eight minutes.
Copper Basin widened the margin farther in the second period, outscoring Sale Creek 15-8, with two of the Panthers points coming at the buzzer. The quarter saw a balanced offense from the Cougars with Conner Kimsey leading with six points followed by Evan Bobo with a three-pointer, Hyatt and Eli White with two each, and a free throw coming from both Boggs and Evan Bobo.
The Cougars’ scoring slowed to nine in the third period as Sale Creek gained a little ground, outpacing the hosts 12-9. White, Bobo, Boggs, Parris and Kimsey all had an offensive hand in the point total.
Copper Basin scored 12 in the final eight minutes to hold off Sale Creek’s second half comeback attempt.
