Copper Basin wins final preseason scrimmage

The Copper Basin Cougars had their final tun-eup before the 2022 season kicks off for keeps as they traveled to the Polk County High School jamboree Friday, August 12.

Copper Basin took on Wartburg Central for one quarter and ended up with a 6-0 win.

Head Coach Chad Grabowski was pleased with his team’s effort on both sides of the football heading into week one’s matchup against the Polk County Wildcats.

“(The scrimmage) went really good. We beat Wartberg Central 6-0 in the one quarter we played them; defense played really well with Cade Dean getting two interceptions. The offense finally started to get some rhythm and drove the ball down the field several times.  Overall, I feel really good about where we are going into the season opener against Polk.”

As Grabowski mentioned, the Cougars will travel to Benton to get the new season underway, with the kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
