The Copper Basin Lady Cougar basketball team hosted the Chattanooga Patriots Thursday, December 12.
The Lady Cougars played well to start the game, but a 15-point fourth quarter led Copper Basin to a 41-35 win.
The Lady Cougars spread the scoring out on offense as Skyler Nipper, Hailey Brackett, Emily Hemming and Laney Jory scored a two-point bucket each for eight points in the first quarter.
Copper Basin’s defense was good in the first, holding the Lady Patriots to five points for an 8-5 lead to start the second quarter.
Hemming led the Lady Cougars in the second quarter, as the senior scored five points on two, two-point buckets and a free throw. Raegan Higdon and Riley Smith scored a two-point bucket each for a nine-point Lady Cougars second quarter.
The Lady Patriots netted 10 points as Copper Basin held on to a 17-15 lead at halftime.
The free throw game was big for the Lady Cougars in the second half as Jory scored three points on a two-point bucket and a free throw.
Brackett and Sapporiah Ross converted two free throws each, while Hemming scored on a two-point bucket as Copper Basin scored nine points in the third quarter.
The Lady Patriots tallied 14 points in the third as they claimed a 29-26 lead.
The Lady Cougars erupted for 15 points in the fourth quarter led by Jory. She made it to the free throw stripe eight times in the fourth, converting seven.
Brackett scored two, two-point buckets down low, while Hemming and Ross combined for four points on a two-point bucket each.
Copper Basin held the Lady Patriots to six points in the fourth as the Lady Cougars clawed their way back to a 41-35 win.
