Copper Basin falls to CSAS

The Copper Basin Cougar basketball team hosted the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences Thursday, February 13. The Cougars battled with the Patriots, taking the game to the fourth quarter, but CSAS was able to sneak away with a 48-43 win.

Copper Basin netted 13 points in the first quarter, with Tim Fair scoring five points on a three ball and two-point bucket. Tim Jabaley rattled in two, two-point buckets, while Nate Deal and Jacob Spurling combined for four points on a two-point bucket each.

CSAS scored 13 points in the first quarter as well to tie the game up 13-13. The Cougars erupted for 16 points in the second, with Deal and Fair scoring six points each on three, two-point buckets each. Collin Limburg capped the second quarter scoring for Copper Basin, working the paint for a two-point bucket and two free throws.

The Cougars outscored the Patriots 16-9 in the second to lead 29-22 at halftime. Copper Basin scored nine points in the third, with Fair scoring seven points on a three ball and two, two-point baskets. Jacob Spurling scored a two-point basket to cap the third quarter scoring for the Cougars. CSAS scored 16 points in the third to tie the game 38-38 heading into the final quarter.

Fair tallied four points in the fourth, scoring a two-point basket and two free throws. Logan Tallent converted one free throw to give the Cougars five points in the fourth. The Patriots scored 10 points in the final quarter as the Cougars fell 48-43.
