CBHS Cheer Squad captures honors

    The Copper Basin High School Varsity Cheer Squad returned from a three-day camp earlier this month with a host of team and individual awards.

    The squad attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheer Camp at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville June 14-17. There they learned new material and competed against other squads and cheerleaders.

    Copper Basin came away with a first place and two second place honors. The squad took first place in Small Varsity Camp Cheer, and second place in both Small Varsity Camp Routing and Small Varsity Game Day Routine.

    Individual honors from the UCA staff went to Maddie Cribbs and Destiny Pittman who were named all Americans, and Peyton Grabowski and Destiny Pittman who received special recognition for their leadership, spirit, commitment, kindness and motivation in the UCA Pin It Forward “America Needs Cheerleaders” program.

    Sapporiah Ross was invited to be part of the UCA Staff for 2023.

    Amber Grabowski, the cheer coach at CBHS, said the squad showed tremendous growth throughout the cheer camp. “I am so proud of their hard work,” she said.
