Basin beats Polk

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougar volleyball team traveled to take on their rival Polk County Tuesday, August 29, in Benton. After losing the first set 25-22,  the Lady Cougars stormed back and swept the next three sets 25-19, 25-13, and 25-18 to win the match.

There were many players who contributed to the win over the Lady Wildcats, led by sophomore Alexis Hyatt who had 11 aces, three kills, and one assist. Senior Sarah Collis finished the night with two  kills and one dig, while sophomore Kendra Deal had one  ace and eight assists. Junior Kenzlie Ballew had a solid night, getting one ace, one kill, and six assists. Sophomore Riley Akens finished with one ace to go with two digs, while senior  Riley Hall collected three aces, five kills, and one dig. Sophomore Peyton Grabowski had eight  kills, one block, and two assists, while senior Taylee Hall had a good night as well, getting five  aces, two kills, and two digs. The Lady Cougars are now 4-3 on the young season. Head Coach Anna West was very pleased with the victory and proud of how her team played after getting down a set early in the match. “There is nothing like a good rivalry game, and it’s even better when your team takes home the win. The girls have come so far in their play since our first game this season, but we still have a long way to go; I’m excited to see them continue to progress.”
