Alexis Hyatt scores 1,000th

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars put another game in the win column, and junior Alexis Hyatt recorded her 1,000th point when Robbinsville’s Lady Knights visited Basin Monday, January 27.

Hyatt’s 1,000th came from the free throw line as she tossed in 13 points in the contest, tying for the night’s scoring honors with Basin’s Cora Kimsey.

Five first-quarter points from Kendra Deal set the early offensive pace for Copper Basin as the Lady Cougars took a 13-6 lead at the first break. Kloie Ballew had four points in the same period.

Another 13-point, eight minutes saw Basin stretch its lead at halftime to 26-8, as the hometown defense held the visitors to two points. Five points from Kimsey set the pace, followed by another four from Ballew.

Hyatt was quiet offensively in the opening half, scoring only two points, then coming out in the third quarter with six points of eight scored by the Lady Cougars. At the third break, Basin led 34-12.

Basin then outscored the visitors 13-9 for the 47-21 win.

Ballew was right behind Hyatt and Kimsey with 11 points, followed by five points from Kendra Deal, three from Raegan Hedden, and one free throw each from Addison Hyatt and Alyvia Harris.
