Kolton Kaylor scored 21 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and passed for 10 assists to lead the Fannin County Rebels basketball past the defending AA State Runner-up Union County in an 85-59 victory, Tuesday, November 25.
The teams battled neck and neck during the first eight minutes with the Rebels taking a 20-19 lead at the buzzer on their home court.
Fannin then had a strong second period, outscoring the visitors 21-14 to take a 41-33 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.
From there, the hosts never looked back.
Fannin outscored Union 18-11 in the third period before producing their best quarter in the final eight minutes, outscoring Union County 26-15. The Rebels had six assists in the quarter.
The Rebels shot 28-51 on twos, which was a key factor in the win. The team rebounded the ball well, collecting 47 rebounds. Kaylor led the team with 17 rebounds.
Matthew Ponton knocked down five shots from beyond the arc.
The Rebels passed the ball well with 19 assists on 34 made baskets. Kaylor led the team with nine assists. Keaton Watkins led the team with three blocks.
Kaylor finished with 21, Ponton earned 20 points, Watkins put in 12 points, Brody Henson added 11 points, Tyler Blake had 6 points including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, Kolby Kaylor and Hudson York each put in 4 points, Avrey Angel pocketed 3 points and Cash Lambert and Camden Woolsey both had a basket for 2 points each to help the Fannin County win.
