Sunny D veterans back to help this year’s camp

Two dozen wonderful former Sunny D students and other college students are helping Blue Ridge Community Theater to put on the best theater camp ever.

Here’s a bit about each of these great kids and what they are doing to produce this year’s series of shows entitled Play Among the Stars.

•Kristen Arp is assistant director & choreographer for Into the Woods. She was a camper at Sunny D for five years.

•Shelby Belt is co-choreographer & stage manager for Into the Woods. She spent eight years in Sunny D.

•Avery Britt is vocal coach for The Big One-Oh and is new to Sunny D.

•Sophie Burnett attends Young Harris majoring in Music Education and is assistant director of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. In Sophie’s nine years as a camper, her favorite show was Newsies.

•Sarah Creed was ten year camp veteran. In addition to five years as camp photographer, Sarah is assistant director of Friendly Neighberhood Helpers.

•Mike Crews, this year’s summer production manager, worked tech last summer.

•Lindsey Doss was a 13 year camper having started at five. This year she is co-directing Into the Woods.

•Garrison Hamm is a 12 year camper. He is working tech on all shows this summer.

•Arwyn Jones has been at Sunny D camp 12 years. She is directing Wind in the Willows.

•Erin Jones was in Sunny D for two years. She is assistant director of Wind in the Willows and is majoring in Musical Theater with a minor in Dance on two scholarships at Reinhart College.

•Lilybet Jones was a camper for two years. She is stage managing Wind in the Willows.

•Faith Mann was a camper here for nine years and has interned for six years since then. She is the director of Friendly Neighborhood Helpers.

•Zachary Nelson was in Sunny D for two years. He is co-directing Into the Woods.

•Joey Nicolella was formerly production manager at Blue Ridge Community Theater (BRCT) and in camp two years. He has worked in all capacities at Sunny D.

•Allison Nuckolls is production manager for Into the Woods.

•Erica Sanders was five years in camp when BRCT was in their old location. Her favorite roll was in The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus. She is directing Ebenezer’s Christmas Carol this summer & has previously helped as parent liaison.

•Sarah Shelton is production manager for Sunny D. After 12 years as a camper, she has spent ten years on staff. She has held positions of tech, stage manager, assistant and director over the years.

•Courtnee Tabacchi is a summer Intern this year and is working with Edward Tulane as stage manager. She also works is the BRCT box office part time and is appearing in the next production of Big Fish. She is a Theater & Mass Commuications major at the Georgia College & State University.

•Cameron Walls has been involved with Sunny D for 14 years. He is production coordinator of The Big One-Oh.

•Edie Walls graduated Young Harris as a Music major and is director of The Big One-Oh. She too attended camp for 14 years.

•Lain Walls spent 14 years in camp. Lain wrote An Average British Evening which was seen in the Black Box last year. Lain is assistant director and choreographer of The Big One Oh.

•Louis Walls attended 14 years at Sunny D. He is stage manager for The Big One-Oh.
