Fannin County Health Department inspected 25 restaurants from September 1 through October 15.
Scores are based on “risk categorization,” which is determined based on menu items served, food preparation processes and previous food safety history.
The inspected restaurants, their scores and violations are as follows:
•Kenny’s Pizza & Subs, 64 Toccoa Avenue, McCaysville, earned a perfect score along with Sue’s Cafeteria, 3855 East First Street, Royal Waffle King, 4960 Appalachian Highway, andMona Lisa’s Dessert House, 116 West Main Street Unit 1A, all in Blue Ridge.
•Boat Dock Bar & Grill, 335 Marina Drive, Blue Ridge, received an 88 because Inspector Shannon Bradburn observed wings in an ice bath being maintained at a high temperature. Bradburn also noted that there were flies in the kitchen and no fly fans in operation.
In addition, a screen door was left open and there was a hole in a glass window.
•The Trailer Drive-In, 2691 East First Street, Blue Ridge, made a 97 because employees were not wearing hair restraints.
•The Blue Coyote Bar & Grill, 500 East Main Street Suite 105, Blue Ridge, received an 88 since the kitchen hand-washing sink was blocked by the breading station and there were no paper towels at the sink. Pitchers of tea were also being left out opened, and there was build-up on a can opener blade.
•China I, 4295 Old Highway 76 Suite A, Blue Ridge, was given an 88 for an expired Food Manager Certification, egg rolls being stored for cooling on top of a large container, and tableware at the hot bar being subject to contamination.
•Hippie Dippies, 4118 East First Street, Blue Ridge, was given a 91because the Food Safety Manager Certification had expired, ice cream in the freezer was not covered, the inspection report was not posted, and the Food Service permit was not posted.
•Poke Jon’s, 3331 East First Street, Bumblebee’s Cafe, 5850 Appalachian Highway, both in Blue Ridge, earned scores of 100.
•Burger King, 3960 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge, received a 97 because employees were not wearing hair restraints.
•Mike’s Trackside BBQ, 3950 East First Street, Blue Ridge, was given a 96 because there was encrusted material on the can opener.
•Harvest on Main, 576 East Main Street, Blue Ridge, received a 96 because drink pitchers were not being covered while stored.
•Stateline BBQ, 47 Toccoa Avenue Suite A, McCaysville, Arby’s, 5 Progress Circle, Blue Ridge, and Carroll’s Barbeque, 39 Lance Street, Blue Ridge, all received 100s.
•Taco Bell, 5475 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge, was given a 99 because Inspector Monica Hodskins said the kitchen floor needed “general cleaning.”
•Domino’s Pizza, 4295 Old Highway 76 Suite E, Sips & Bites, 678 East Main Street, Oscar Chili’s Tacoria, 257 East Main Street, Papa John’s Pizza, 2800 Scenic Drive Suite 7, and Great Eats Deli & Bakery, 611 East Main Street, all of Blue Ridge, received perfect scores.
•Tin Loong, 5771 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge, was given a 92 after Bradburn observed the dish machine not dispensing sanitizer, encrusted material on a can opener blade and meat slicer, missing wall coverings in the food service area, baseboard tile in poor repair, a gap underneath the rear kitchen door, and live and dead roaches in the facility.
•Healthy Me, 5425 Appalachian Highway Suite 9, Blue Ridge, received a 99 because of the type of material used on a new separation wall in the kitchen.
