    The Fannin County Animal Control have many dogs who are ready to be adopted in to their forever homes.

    This past week, 17 dogs were taken in.

    Two dogs were adopted, two were owner reclaimed and six were sent to a rescue center.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours. The animal contro facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.

    To reclaim dogs, their owners must show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination or pay to have them vaccinated.

    Anyone who would like to make donations for improvements to the facility or for the care of the dogs may do so by visiting that website as well.

    Animal Control is located at 1001 Fannin Industrial Park in Blue Ridge.

    The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Luna. If you are looking for a unique feline to add to your family, this three-year-old beauty is for you! Luna is an orange tabby, and only 20% of orange tabby cats are female. She is also a polydactyl cat, which means she was born with more than the usual number of toes on her paws. Luna is a gorgeous girl who loves to be brushed so that she always looks her best. She adores people and gets along well with fellow felines. Contact the Adoption Center at 706-632-4357 for more information about Luna. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations, so she is ready for her furever home.
