Restaurant scores range from 77 to 100

Fannin County Environmental Health has released the scores of recent restaurant health inspections.

Scores vary with the lowest being 77 and the highest being 100. The following examines ten restaurants that were evaluated between December 2 and December 18.

Angelina’s Gourmet market & Deli, 3640 E. First St., Blue Ridge, earned a perfect score of 100.

Blue Smoke World Famous BBQ at 3365 E. First St. in Blue Ridge scored an 86 for pulled pork being held past the seven day mark, employees preparing food without hair restraints, no door closer on employee bathroom, and walk-in cooler and smoker without sweep to prevent insect entry.

Cantaberry Restaurant, located at 53 Roberts Way in Blue Ridge received an 83. The inspector noted a blockage preventing access to the hand wash sink and uncovered holes in walls. Additionally, the inspector observed soups being cooled in five gallon buckets with lids; soups should be cooled in containers no larger than four inches in diameter. Chicken and wild rice soup and tomato soup were prepared 24 hours beforehand and not properly cooled.

Chester Brunnenmeyer’s Bar & Grill, 733 E. Main St., Blue Ridge, scored a 93 for issues with the mechanical ware washing and dish washing machines. The sanitizing dish machine was not reaching adequate temperature, pressure nor dispensing adequate wash solution.

McDonald’s on Appalachian Highway in Blue Ridge received a 99 for not hanging mops to dry.

Riverview Beanery, 32 Toccoa Ave., McCaysville, Morganton Grill, 45 Bypass Rd., Morganton, and Pat’s Kountry Kitchen, 1256 Blue Ridge Dr., McCaysville all earned perfect scores.

The Blue Coyote Bar & Grill, 500 E. Main St., Blue Ridge, scored a 77. No paper towels were at hand washing sinks in the kitchen or bar, drink/sauce preparation and storage area was blocked by multiple trashcans, a build-up of food was observed on a meat slicer, meats were being held under 135 degrees Fahrenheit, the most recent inspection report was not displayed adequately, the dumpster was left with an open lid, painted concrete floors in wait-station and chemical storage room were not sealed, non-absorbent and not in good repair, multiple holes were observed in walls, and kitchen and storage areas were missing ceiling tiles.

The Boro Inn at 150 W. Main St. in Blue Ridge earned a 100.
