Ada, College streets would be affected
Mike Galinski and Nathan Fitts have each submitted applications to the City of Blue Ridge to rezone parcels of land, which will be heard at the Planning Commission’s meeting December 3.
Galinski, under the name Green Rocks, LLC, which was formed June 25, 2019, is requesting four adjoining properties be rezoned from C-2 (General Commercial) to CBD (Central Business District). The properties are at the end of Ada Street and River Street in Blue Ridge, next to the Hampton Building.
He wishes to rezone the properties with the “intent to have best possible use options: including mixed use residential, business or high-density residential.”
The properties were all purchased August 16 of this year, and the applications were dated October 17.
Fitts has requested the property of 26 College St., Blue Ridge, be rezoned, as part of a Special Land Use request, from residential to commercial for the purpose of having nightly rentals.
A limited warranty deed, meaning there are no other claims against the property, states partial ownership between Fitts and Robert Matthew Hallmark. The deed was dated November 17, 2017. Fitts affirmed that he is a part owner of 50% of the property.
Fitts’s application was dated November 1, 2019.
The Planning Commission will hear the requests of each application during the December 3 meeting before making a recommendation to the City of Blue Ridge that same day.
The city is responsible for the concluding decision during their regular monthly meeting.
