Life Care Center of Copper Basin in Ducktown recently earned accreditation from The Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates the safety and quality of services of over 21,000 health care organizations and programs across the United States. It is the nation’s oldest and largest “standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.”
To earn accreditation, the Joint Commission’s certified surveyors visit health care organizations to evaluate standards of compliance, called surveying. During this process, surveyors select patients at random and use their medical records to evaluate the standards. In addition, they speak with and observe doctors, nurses and other staff who work directly with patients.
The facility was evaluated August 21 and 22 and will accredit the facility through the summer of 2020.
Life Care Center of Copper Basin Executive Director Josh Lee said, “This really was a team effort, and the outcome truly shows the positive commitment the staff has made in creating an environment for the patients we serve.”
With roots in Cleveland, Tennessee, Life Care Center of Copper Basin is one of 27 facilities in the state.
Director of Nursing Margie Ray said, “I just want to thank everyone for the outstanding job the team did for the survey. This team is the greatest.”
