All interested in applying for Habitat for Humanity’s Homeownership Program should attend an orientation meeting Thursday, February 13, at 5:30 p.m. or Saturday, February 15, at 10:30 a.m.
The informational sessions will be held at South State Bank, in the Community Room, 59 Orvin Lance Dr., Blue Ridge.
The orientation is open to all who are looking for either no or low interest rates for mortgage loans. There will be four sessions, and to qualify, applicants must attend at least one.
The meeting is free to attend and will last around two hours. A presentation about requirements will be introduced and applications and checklists of required documents will be distributed.
Children are not preferred to attend the meeting.
To qualify for a Habitat home, folks must be able to pay a mortgage, demonstrate a need for adequate and affordable housing, willing to perform 300 hours of “sweat equity” and fall within income guidelines. Applicants must also have lived or worked in Fannin, Gilmer or Polk counties for at least 12 consecutive months.
