Buddy Bags Ministry donates to foster children

Buddy Bags Ministry has donated 100 bags to the Appalachian Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) with the hopes of making a foster child’s day in Fannin County.

Appalachian CASA Recruitment and Engagement Specialist Destiny Morgan said they are “very grateful for these donations of kindness and love to the children we serve.”

CASA volunteers represent children in juvenile court proceedings to ensure children are well spoken for and find stable, loving homes.

CASA would like to invite members of the community to volunteer to represent a child in the Appalachian District. Information sessions will take place January 7 at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. the same day. If interested, call Morgan at 706-276-2272 or email advocacy@appalachiancasa.com.

Buddy Bags Ministry is an outreach program out of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. The ministry provides foster children with canvas bags filled with homemade goodies such as teddy bears and blankets. The bags are also stuffed with crayons, a coloring book, paper, a folder and a book.

The ministry is made possible through donations and the help of volunteers with hopes of bringing a smile to the faces of children who otherwise may not have much else.
