When you adopt a dog, you gain more than a pet. You gain a loyal companion who will love you unconditionally. Adopted dogs make the most gracious, loving, thankful pets.
Be mindful as outside temperature decreases that it is important to keep your pet comfortable. Outside dogs should be equipped with dry straw as insulation in their dog house or other shelter. It may also be worth having a heat lamp for your pooch.
In the past week, officers brought in 16 dogs with two reclaimed, one going to Homeward Bound Pet Rescue, one going to Atlanta Boxer Rescue, two going to 4 Paws Animal Rescue and 12 going to Doggone Rescue.
Animal Control Officers and volunteers alike hope folks may be willing to open their home and their hearts to the dogs in their facility.
Community members are welcome to make item or monetary donations and may also walk dogs to help them get exercise.
Pet owners should make sure to properly tag and identify pets to prevent them being picked up unnecessarily. It is also advised to keep microchip information up to date.
Hours of operation at Animal Control are Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the facility. After hours the officers follow up with community concerns and respond to stray dog calls.
