Pigs on the Ridge, the Fannin County Young Farmers Association’s annual market hog show, was January 21 at the Fannin County School System Agriculture Facility.
Many school’s 4-H and FFA members, including members from Fannin County, attended the show to exhibit their market hog projects.
The competition was based on showmanship and weight class.
The judge for the market hog show was Kam Childers of Gordon County, Georgia.
Awarded Intermediate Champion Showman was Roy Green, who attends Fannin County Middle School and is a member of the FFA.
Awarded Intermediate Reserve Showman was Ethan Deal, who attends Fannin County Middle School and is a member of the FFA.
Reserve Champion Barrow was awarded to Slade Epperson, who is a senior at Fannin County High School. Epperson is also a member of the FFA.
Local sponsors who helped fund the market hog show include Fannin County Young Farmers, Fannin County FFA Alumni, Fannin County Middle School FFA, Fannin County High School FFA, Preferred Medical Products of Ducktown, MDC Consolidated LLC Automotive Repair of Mineral Bluff, Southern Drug Company of Blue Ridge, Mason Tractor Company of Blue Ridge, G & N Iron of Blue Ridge and Kevin Panter Insurance of Blue Ridge.
Dinner was provided by Nicholson Tire Company located in Blue Ridge.
