A Polk County woman remained in jail Monday on a second degree murder charge following a shooting Saturday night, April 9, in Turtletown.
Rhonda Richmond, 57, was being held Monday morning in the Polk County jail in Benton, according to Polk County Sheriff Steve Ross.
Ross said deputies Kelby Liner and Casey Arp responded to a report of someone being shot at 2794 Highway 68 at approximately 7:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim’s name was being withheld Monday morning pending notification of next of kin.
Ross said Captain Keith Barker and Detective Cody Day were called to investigate and subsequently arrested Richmond on a charge of second degree murder.
Polk County jail records show Richmond was booked Sunday morning at 2:22 a.m.
Richmond was being held without bond on the murder charge. She was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
Ross said details were few Monday morning as the investigation was ongoing.
