Vets plan cookout Thursday

    Everyone is invited to a cookout at the Fannin County Veterans Museum Thursday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

    Many local veterans organizations will be participating in the cookout, which will include free hot dogs and T-shirts for sale. 

    Raffle tickets for Chapter 28 of the Disabled American Veterans will also be on sale for a chance to win a WWII-era M1 Garand rifle or a .45 caliber Rock Island pistol, which the organization has bought from McCaysville Drug & Gun for around $1,800. Tickets cost $10 each. 

    The museum is located in front of Fannin County Middle School at 4584 Veterans Memorial Highway in Blue Ridge.
