USDA reminds fireworks illegal on all public lands

With celebrations of the U.S.A’s independence underway, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)  issued a warning this week reminding everyone that fireworks are illegal on public lands, forests and campsites.

The possession or discharge of all types of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices are prohibited on all national forest lands year-round, the warning said.

Regulations are enforced, and the offense is punishable as a misdemeanor, according to the USDA.

A violation is punishable by a fine up to $5,000 or imprisonment up to six months.
