Law enforcement authorities have arrested two individuals accused of trafficking heroin through Fannin County.
Jamie Willis Whitener, 44, of 575 Cook Ridge Road, Murphy, North Carolina, and Natalie Lynn Scogins, 47, of 675 Cook Ridge Road, Murphy, were arrested Wednesday, March 30.
Each is charged with one felony count of trafficking in heroin, and Whitener also faces a misdemeanor charge of giving false name, according to arrest warrants.
The arrests resulted from a traffic stop performed on Highway 515 in Gilmer County.
According to information provided by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, both suspects were known by law enforcement agencies through an investigation into heroin trafficking between Gilmer County and Murphy.
Approximately 10.9 grams of heroin were seized with an approximate value of $1,600.
Taking part in the investigation and arrests were deputies from Gilmer, Fannin, and Cherokee County, North Carolina, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
