Logan Keith Morrow took a turn straight to the Fannin County jail last week when he failed to use his turn signal in McCaysville.
Morrow, 23, of 513 Isabella Avenue, Copperhill, failed to signal when he turned onto Blue Ridge Drive from West Central Avenue, McCaysville Police Department Detective Cory Collogan said.
Collogan then performed a traffic stop on the black, Chevrolet S-10 pickup the suspect was driving.
A check of the license tag on the truck came back to a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer out of Murphy, North Carolina.
And a check of Morrow came back with three Fannin County warrants, one for aggravated assault, one for cruelty to children and one for battery family violence, Collogan said.
Troubles continued to mount for Morrow when, while being detained by Officer Jordan Wright, he broke free and began running north parallel to Blue Ridge Drive.
A short foot chase began, and Collogan and Wright caught Morrow within about 50 yards.
After placing Morrow in custody, officers found just shy of 22 grams of methamphetamine, Collogan said.
Collogan said when he looked in the truck, he spotted a suspicious, bright pink box in the side door of the pickup that seemed out of place. The methamphetamine was located inside that box.
Police Chief Mike Earley said, besides the Fannin County warrants, Morrow is facing charges of:
•Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute;
•Possession of Marijuana less than an ounce;
•Possession of Drug Related Objects;
•Possession of a weapon during Commission of a felony;
•Two counts of Obstruction of a Police Officer;
•No drivers license;
•Driving on a Revoked License;
•Failure to Use Turn Signal;
•Driving Without Insurance; and,
•Fixing License Plate in Attempt to Conceal Identity.
