Three suspects hunted in connection with the Cherry Log murder of Rossana Delgado, 37, are awaiting extradition from Texas to Georgia after being arrested in Mexico Saturday, May 15.
A press release from Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) spokesman Nelly Miles said Megan Colone, 30, Oscar Manuel Garcia, 26, and Juan Antonio Vega, 25, all face murder charges.
They were arrested by Mexican authorities, then turned over to Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Border Patrol agents who oversaw their transports to Texas detention facilities.
Colone and Garcia were among four suspects originally identified in connection with Delgado’s murder, while Vega’s identity was sought through news release photographs. Vega is a Cobb County resident.
Miles said the arrests came as the result of a coordinated effort between several state, national and Mexican agencies. The same agencies continue to work together as they seek the remaining two suspects, Juan Ayala-Rodriguez and Mario Alberto Barbosa-Juarez.
Delgado, 37, of Bethlem, Georgia, was reported missing April 16. She was last seen in DeKalb County that same day.
Authorities have still not released specific details of the crime itself. Delgado’s body was discovered at a Cherry Log residence when Gilmer County sheriff’s deputies responded to a request for a welfare check April 20. The GBI was immediately called for assistance.
