Suspect charged after crossing into Georgia

Bobby Lee Ross found himself under arrest and facing a variety of charges Thursday night, December 10, only minutes after crossing into McCaysville from Copperhill.

Detective Cory Collogan of the McCaysville Police Department said officers Allison Taulbee and Brian Collis saw Ross go through the three-way stop at the state line at an excessive rate of speed on his motorcycle. That was just before 9 p.m. He also had neon blue lights on the motorcyle, which is illegal, Collogan said.

Taulbee, who was in the area of the Conoco, was able to catch up to the motorcycle and activated her blue lights to perform a traffic stop in the area of Toccoa River Tubing on Toccoa Avenue, Collogan said.

Ross did not try to race away, but continued driving and was seen throwing unidentified objects by Officer Brian Collis, who was behind Taulbee.

Ross finally stopped at The Branch Church just outside McCaysville on State Route 60.

Officers later searched the area, but were unable to find what Ross had thrown. 13.3 grams of methamphetamine was discovered in individual packages when officers searched Ross.

Ross, 43, of 93 Albion Street in McCaysville, was taken into custody. According to Fannin County Detention Center records, he is charged with:
•Possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell;

•Possession of methamphetamine;

•Violation of probation;

•Tampering with evidence;

•No insurance;

•No brake lights or working turn signals;

•Speeding;

•No license tag; and,
