Johnny Scearce, elected last November to the Post One seat on the Fannin County Board of Commissioners, is ready to get to work. It’s just going to be a little longer.
Scearce is continuing to recover from a battle with complications brought on by COVID-19. That battle began in mid-September and included a hospital stay lasting 120 days.
But speaking from his Fannin County home Saturday, Scearce said he plans to take his oath of office within the next week or two.
The next step will be to attend commission meetings via phone or video conference.
Scearce says if all goes well, and the doctor releases him as expected, he will be attending the meetings in person by the end of March.
“Everything is checking out,” Scearce said.
The commissioner-elect said he is feeling better and is getting stronger every day, but he is still not completely recovered. He remains hooked up to an IV and undergoes breathing treatments. But he is in good spirits and “is ready” to get to work.
