Billy Rayanthony Saunders has been charged in connection with the 2020 motorcycle crash that claimed the life of Whitney Larra Bass and her unborn child.
Bass, 30, of Blue Ridge, was a passenger on Saunders' 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crashed on Madola Road near Queen Road October 26, 2020, according to warrants on file at the Fannin County Sheriff's Office. The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m.
Saunders, 34, of 156 Number 20 Mine Road, McCaysville, was booked into the Fannin County Detention Center April 8.
Warrants charge Saunders with:
•Felony, feticide by vehicle in the first degree;
•Misdemeanor, homicide by vehicle in the first degree:
•Misdeameanor, DUI less safe;
•And the following misdemeanors; hit and run, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, no insurance, registration suspended, and violation driver's license restrictions.
According to the warrants, Bass, who was pregnant, was a passenger on Saunders’ motorcycle when the crash occurred on Madola Road approximately one tenth of a mile west of Queen Road.
At the time, Saunders’ blood alcohol level was 0.149 grams. The legal limit in Georgia is 0.08 grams. He only held a motorcycle permit license at the time of the crash.
