Tri-State EMC’s partnership with TVA that directed $10,000 to a trio of local organization is in addition to the local power company’s contributions through Operation Round Up, the program funded solely by member contributions.
Through October of this year, Operation Round Up grants have totaled $61,248.95, according to figures from Tri-State. This brings the total grants awarded since the program started in late 2012 to $628,990.23.
Tri-State officials say all this money came from contributions from the co-op’s members.
Among the most recent recipients of Operation Roundup awards are Snack in a Backpack, Copper Basin Elementary School Snack Pack, Morganton Baptist Church Food & Clothing Ministry, Feed Fannin, Fannin County Family Connection, the Copper Basin Crisis Center, Fannin County Brain Injury Support Group and Mineral Springs Advocates.
Roundup also funds an annual college scholarship for graduating seniors at each of the three high schools in its service area; Fannin County, Copper Basin and Hiwassee Dam. School nurses and other school needs that do not get regular funding are also regular recipients of Roundup awards.
