    Fannin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Robert Graham has been awarded the James H. Creel Jr., MD, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Pioneer of the Year Award.

    The honor was presented at the Northwest Georgia Region 1 EMS Awards banquet at the Walker County Civic Center May 12.

    Becky Huffman, Fannin County EMS director, said the awards banquet program described Creel as instrumental in creating the Georgia EMS system in Northwest Georgia. He served as regional medical director for Region 1 and Hutcheson Medical Center during his distinguished career. Creel passed away in 2016.

    Graham has worked in EMS for over 40 years.
