David Ralston, Steve Gooch, Frank Wood and Dane Kirby all brought similar messages as they addressed the crowd gathered in Epworth for the Republican Fall Festival Saturday.
One by one, they drew the crowd’s approval as they condemned the course being taken by the federal government and stressed the need to return to the values that built this country.
Ralston, Georgia Speaker of the House of Representatives and District 7 representative, pulled no punches in attacking the polices of President Joe Biden. He spoke of the higher gas and grocery prices. He talked of being ashamed as he watched an American plane leaving a country of people we were supposed to fight for, and seeing people chase the plane, only to be left behind.
“There’s only one way to stop him,” Ralston said referring to Biden.
“We will decide in Georgia who’s going to Washington.” Ralston referred to taking back control of the U.S. Senate by the Republican party.
To do this, he said voters must elect the candidate who will “vote the way...the people of this state want them to vote.” Ralston made the comment in his introduction of Herschel Walker.
One of many statements made regarding the importance of the November election came from State Senator Steve Gooch who said, “It’s true, this year’s election may be one of the most important of our lifetime.”
“The policies of D.C. are not working,” Gooch said, reminding the crowd, “Look at what the consequences were of the last election.”
Fannin County Republican Party Chairman Frank Wood spoke directly to the importance of area voters.
“Atlanta is getting bigger. We have to increase our Republican votes,” he said. By doing this, “Rural North Georgia can make a difference.”
The importance Wood placed on voting and voter turnout was echoed by Fannin County Sheriff Dane Kirby who said, “We’re fighting a very important fight that we need to get out there and win.”
Ralston concluded, “We’ve got a lot of work to do...(winning) is going to require that we get out there and work.”
