Paws for Celebration draws huge crowd to help humane society

The Humane Society of Blue Ridge held its third annual fundraiser, Paws for Celebration, Saturday, June 17.

The event was to be held in the newly constructed Staurolite Barn located in Mineral Bluff, but as construction projects go, the venue was not ready in time. The owners, Todd and Jackie Burkhalter, made sure that the event would take place as planned and donated the use of a huge tent with flooring, a stage, and the use of a smaller barn to locate the Silent Auction.

“It was a beautiful evening, and we raised more money than last year, making the event another success for the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. We are so grateful to Todd and Jackie Burkhalter, owners of the Burkhalter Ranch, for donating everything needed to hold our event.

“We had many volunteers and generous event partners and sponsors that supported the event and patrons that attended the event.

“This event is one of our largest fundraisers and provides much-needed funds to operate the Adoption Center and our newly opened Low-Cost Vet Clinic, and we send our sincere thanks to all those that helped make this event such a success” said Diane Basco, executive director – development for the humane society.

Basco said a special thanks to the many event partners and sponsors.
