Freedom for Fido and Fannin County Barking Buddies are partnering together to rescue Archie, a dog who has been at the Fannin County Animal Control facility for over a year.
Archie has been deemed to have “no adoption interest” due to his many setbacks. He has a bad hip, had an abscessed tooth, and he has tested positive for heart worms. Because of these factors, he has had a hard time finding a family to adopt him.
Barking Buddies was recently able to raise enough money for Archie to receive a tooth extraction as well as heart worm treatment. Their next mission was to find Archie a good home.
Luckily for Archie, a volunteer at Animal Control, Debi Holcomb, who Archie loves, agreed to adopt him. The only issue was, Archie loves being an outside dog, and fences are expensive to build. Barking Buddies contacted Freedom for Fido, an organization that builds fences for dogs all over North Georgia, to see if they would be able to assist with building a fence.
Freedom for Fido already had a lengthy list of pets to build fences for, but they agreed to lead the fence building project for Archie if enough money could be raised to cover the costs of materials.
Safe Pet Project Thrift Store also partnered with Tim Pauley to offer funds to build Archie his very own dog house. Safe Pet Project proceeds provide funding for community projects like free micro-chipping for pets, pet ID tags, financial assistance for spaying/neutering and more.
Barking Buddies was able to gather enough volunteers and funds to go forward with the project to give Archie a good home with a loving owner.
The fence building project began October 7, thanks to volunteers from Freedom for Fido, Barking Buddies, Animal Control, Safe Pet Project and more community members, just in time for Archie to have a home for the Winter.
