Polk County authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting last week that left one man dead and another hospitalized.
Captain Keith Barker of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased victim as Dennis Sanders, 65.
Robert Joseph Spurlock, 36, was also shot and was flown by helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Barker said early Monday morning Spurlock remained there over the weekend.
Both lived at 122 Garden Walk Boulevard in Turtletown where the shooting happened.
Barker described the incident as a domestic altercation since the victims were related.
The sheriff’s office received a call through the 911 Center shortly after 3 p..m. Thursday, December 1, of a report of a shooting. When the first deputies arrived, they found Sanders deceased and Spurlock suffering from a gunshot wound, Barker said.
Barker said authorities are “still investigating the circumstances” of the shooting.
No charges had been placed as of Monday morning.
