North Georgia Honor Guard receives Hall of Fame Award from Blues & BBQ

    The North Georgia Honor Guard was presented this year’s Blues & BBQ Hall of Fame award by Greg Spencer, who helped coordinate the annual festival.

    The honor was presented in recognition for the Honor Guard’s community service throughout the year and followed a special ceremony during Blues & BBQ.

    Every year during the festival, at approximately 3 p.m., the music is stopped followed by the presentation of the U.S. flag, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

    The Honor Guard then conducts a flag ceremony and every veteran present is recognized.

    For over 15 years, the North Georgia Honor Guard has conducted military honors at funeral services for veterans in Fannin County and the surrounding area.
