It’s almost time for Labor Day, which means the Good Samaritans of Fannin County are inviting everyone to come out for their Labor Day weekend festivities.
There is no Pic-Nic-Nac this year, but Sunday, September 5, the Good Samaritans will lead the community in a non-denominational worship service in the downtown Blue Ridge park beginning at 6 p.m.
Folks are invited to bring their own chairs and sit in the park during the service, or they can listen in their vehicles.
Following the service, Dairy Queen of Blue Ridge will provide ice cream sundaes for an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social.
The next day, on Labor Day itself, they will host their annual Bar-B-Q, but this year will be drive-thru only from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., or until the food runs out, also in the downtown Blue Ridge Park. Signs will guide drivers through.
Due to increasing meat prices, plate prices have increased. St. Louis Red plates will be $16, 1/2 chicken plates will be $14, and barbecue sandwich plates will be $12. Plates come with all the fixings, and tickets can be purchased at the drive-thru. Different from years past, drinks will be served canned or bottled and desserts will be commercially packaged.
There will be live music on the stage during the barbecue.
All proceeds benefit those in need throughout Fannin County.
