The Mountain Patriots presented a list of their legislative priorities when they hosted District 7 Representative and Speaker of the Georgia House David Ralston for their regular meeting Thursday, December 2.
Those priorities include:
•To ban teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Georgia;
•A forensic audit of the 2020 election by an outside contractor;
•Establish mail-in voting limits prior to the next election;
•Establish an independent Office of Governmental Oversight and abolish the office of Inspector General;
•Require driver’s licenses to be clearly marked non-citizen to prevent illegal voting;
•Make Georgia a Sanctuary city free state;
•Make Georgia a Constitutional Carry state and oppose any federal laws restricting the Second Amendment; and,
•Prohibit COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
The desperate need for conservatives to vote in the upcoming 2022 election was stressed by Ralston and Lane Bishop.
Ralston pointed out that Republicans in the Ninth and Fourteenth Congressional Districts – the Ninth including Fannin County – failed to return to the polls in the January 2021 runoff and it was that runoff that sent Raphael Warnock to Washington, D.C., as one of the state’s two senators.
Ralston pointed out that because of the lack of voter turnout, conservative Georgia now has its two most liberal U.S. senators in the history of the state.
Lane Bishop stressed the importance of every vote, displaying a poster reflecting voter math. With it, he showed how every vote not cast counts as two votes.
With a base of ten votes in an election, each vote adds one vote, he said. When a vote is not cast, a vote is subtracted from the base, leaving nine voters making a decision compared to 11 when a vote is cast.
Bishop used the math to drive home the importance of voting.
