Missing man found in McCaysville

A McCaysville resident became concerned when noticing an elderly man asleep in a vehicle near the end of East Tennessee Avenue close to the city’s water plant.

The following phone call to police ended with a happy reunion between the man and his family members.

McCaysville officers received the phone call about the 83-year-old man Thursday, September 24, about 11 a.m., according to Detective Cory Collogan of the McCaysville Police Department.

When officers went to the scene they found the man sitting in his vehicle where he had fallen asleep.

A check of his driver’s license information determined he was missing out of Monroe County, Tennessee.

Collagen said he had disappeared after a visit to a doctor in Knoxville.

The man was taken to the McCaysville Police Department where he was subsequently fed. His family members were called,  and they picked him up a short time later.

Collogan explained that the man appeared to be suffering from health issues.
